also know as hedgehog plant on account of its egg-sized prickly seed pods formed after its very small flowers. Annual unless frost-free.

It will grow to nearly 2m in a year, and produce seed pods like those shown in good summers. I think 2m would be its final size.

The seed pods contain many small (2-3mm long) seeds each attached to a feathery thing to allow the wind to spread them - rather as dandelions , araujia and ascleipia tuberosa do. The outer seed pod is fairly soft.
