This is what people use in the villages when they go to the plantation to collect food. The two straps are slung over the shoulders and the basket load of food is carried on the back of the person.

Does the basket change at all if it gets wet ?

No it doesn't TT. It is put out in the sun to dry and is used again. It can be used for over a year sometimes.
