White wood grub

These were found eating into a cut tree stump. They are considered a delicacy in some villages here.No I haven't tried and never will be, LOL, but I am told that these grubs are fed with grated coconuts for a few days then roasted for the meal. Some say it is beautiful and crispy.

I don't think I could try it either. But in the right circumstance, I'll remember about the coconut.....lol.

I know, I couldn't believe it when I was first told about this Hywel, I was most disgusted, but it's something similar to beetle eating etc in some parts of Asia.

Then I surely wouldn't be expecting anyone to turn up Marguerite. Please be assured everyone this definately will not be on my menu!!!LOL
Yes I saw it on an Australian TV Programme about it being a bushtucker for the Nomadic Aboriginal Tribes there, interesting culture.

Eeeeeewwwww!! I don't even like looking at them never mind touching them. To eat them would be a nightmare. They remind me of the ugly big fat white grubs I find in the garden here sometimes. Apparently, June bug larva.

Anyone who has eaten a hotdog should have no problem eating this!!
Think about it...

Whomever will eat them will get a lot of protein. Most bugs are very high in protein. In Hawaii we eat a lot thing that are considered strange by American Standards...however, I'm not sure I would these.

They look like the grubs the skunks eat here. I think these similar grubs turn out to be June Bugs when mature in Summer here.

Yes you right Delonix about the protein and the same here too about the things we eat here are considered strange elsewhere.
