Strawberry Pot Pansies

This is what I ended up doing with my strawberry pot. I was given a bunch pansies, so I decided to try them in this planter. I added vermiculite to the soil to help keep it from drying out. They have been in the planter about a month now and are still looking good. They dry out every so often, but perk up quickly after watering.

I see you have a tree fern! How do you like growing it? I was thinking of getting a small one. I know they can get very tall. I wonder if they would do ok growing in a pot long-term and would not get too tall.

Good idea for the pot. Tree ferns only grow about 2 cm. (whoops sorry you are from US - less than an inch) on the 'trunk' a year. They are fine in a pot long term as long as you remember to feed and water them. Particularly water. I'm sure both Dee and me wish they would grow just a little faster.

Great idea and the pansies are lovely.

Ooh! I was wondering what to plant in mine this year! I had trouble last year with the water coming straight out of the holes instead of being absorbed by the soil. Maybe I'll try adding something like sphagnum moss.

Great idea to grow pansies in a strawberry pot or any kind of flower that will manage. I'm going to get me some.
