This bird was small. The fruit are chinese dates. They are about the size of a cherry, but more oblong. Jeff's family dries them and then puts them in soup. Can be eaten fresh too. Some say they taste like apples when eaten fresh. I haven't tried them fresh and they're a little too sweet in soup for me. To each his or her own though :)
