I normally grow corn here, but is very barren in winter, and spring.
Very sunny spot, any suggestions what else could be planted there?
Pear tree is planted there also.

Little bulbs? So that you get colour, but the leaves don't flop everywhere when the flowers finish. Try Crocus and Iris reticulata to start with - you can get them in pots at the moment in supermarkets - ready to plant and flower very soon!

a nice scented rose? See if you can find one which is not fussy - ie disease resistant. David Austin roses are good, i think that's the name, but there are others. It's worth paying a bit more for a good one that isn't just going to die on you.
