Some of the summer charity dog shows I attend are held in aid of Greyhound Rescue Groups.

Half way through the show, there is a parade of Greyhounds needing homes. At one show, a Greyhound with only three legs paraded around as nobly as his four-legged canine friends. Brought tears to our eyes.

Good news is on that day, one of the bigger Greyhounds in the parade was given a wonderful home by a family in the audience. Of course, the usual home-checks etc. took place first, but a happy ending.

Such wonderful work these organisations do year round. :o)

I dressed him up as Zorro..but you should have hear people guessing..biker? bondage?... the best breed for me..non smelly, doesn't bark even tho they can, clean, my furniture and shoes intact,2 20min walks in a day 3 in summer, doesn't pull on the lead..and small once curled up on his bed. he trully raced in to our hearts..

to Jacque- I didn't teach him to hop on da bike just yet ;-)...but good next to one once slowly cycling...not very often..they prefer just a stroll and once a week I let him go free in a big opening

Hi 1Cyc...one question... wouldn't Robbie be the perfect companion when riding? he could get a good workout running beside you when you cycle, right? I've never tried that with Mandy as she is prone to 180's with no warning! lol....her nose is her master, sometimes....I'm just along for the walk! I've often wondered about adopting a grey hound...how did you arrange it?

to Lori- my concern is broken botles on the road...so I only did it few times when roads are empty and we can be in the middle...and they are COUCH POTATOES you wouldn't believe it...wish I looked this fit with so little!!!
I went through RGT in Hersham Surry U.K. & they did a house check, garden fence has to be high and they do advise no small children or other small pets cos many hounds never saw one in their life..but some already are spaniel tested and not bothered. Rob is good with children but as any canenine I am arround to monitor it...the only hang up he has is cats...those that run..the impulse is to chase..
Google nearest RGT in your area, there are so many to choose from, colour, size, age.. I went for a boy cos they just mark..and I love my garden...sorry girlie canenines...

give it a go, you wouldn't regret it..

thanks, 1cyc....My girl Mandy is getting to be a senior dog...we're growing old together...we both walk a little more slowly these days...so we're in sync...but I still like the idea of giving a good home to these lovely dogs who have given so much and don't deserve the sad fate that they sometimes suffer... good for you, 1cyc...very commendable. Robbie looks very happy.
