Veg plots

We've dug the first four of the vegetable plots. Each is about 5m by 2m, and has been double-dug to a depth of 2 feet (September), then a layer of well-rotted farm manure (almost like topsoil) has been spread on top (November). We've got to dig this in in Spring, ready for sowing the veg. Potatoes, cabbage, cauliflower, peas etc for a start. We've plans (and lots of room) for a further 4 beds like this, then some smaller plots nearer to the house for small-volume crops. Like the majority of people here, we intend to be very self-sufficient. Next job is a chicken-run and hen house at the back, where the orchard will be.
