Winsford Walled Garden prides itself in offering visitors to this glorious Devon garden many unusual plants and features. Take this Philodendron which many grow as a house plant. Here's an example which has just encountered not one but two nights at -9C recently in an unheated greenhouse. And is a fantastic example of just how resilient plants of all types can be.
This shot was taken a while back 'just after the night before'. The frost protection has been temporarily removed so as not to trap the cold in during the 'relatively' warmer days. The plant roots have suffered no damage, not even the surface roots and with the addition of a drink the plant will rise like a phoenix! Truly encouraging.
