Thank you Catfinch and Gilli. Somehow my mom's african violets always do well! Mine always die, I just never have luck with them.

Do you water them from the bottom of the pot?

No, I always tried to water from the top but not hitting any leaves...

put a dish with a layer of small rocks in it...sit the pot on top of the rocks and fill the dish with the rocks full of water so the bottom of the pot sits amongst water and rocks but not touching the bottom of the dish...African violets like to be watered best this way...from the bottom up. I water a lot of my potted plants from the bottom up....
they seem to like it..

AV's need plenty of light too Raquel but not direct sunlight which will burn the leaves. I grow most of mine under a florescent light on the mantle. Also, make sure the soil is dry before watering them. They don't like soggy roots. :o)
