Jan. 28 Another snow and freezing rain storm

We're in the middle of another snow and freezing rain storm. This stuff is very heavy to shovel. So far we're very lucky as this storm has done a lot of damage knocking out power to thousands across the country. I amazes me when I look out my windows and then look at some of your photos showing a lot of green and flowers blooming at this time of the year. I just read where there have been 21 deaths across the country from this storm.

It's not even February first yet... The farmers almanac predicts A LOT of snow in February and very cold temps. I hope that they are wrong but so far they have been right on the button with their predictions. The last couple winters were very mild with hardly any snow compared to this season.

Poor you Mike...hope the predictions are wrong..certainly puts our whingeing into perspective !

Makes the seemingly never-ending 'wet' season here seem like it's really not much to complain about. Hope it gets better for you.

Freezing rain is the worst. We had some recently and whole towns were cut off. Now it's gone, thank goodness.

The southern part of our state is known for what is called Silver Thaws there...it is thick layers of ice caused by freezing rain...causes tremendous amounts of damage..to power lines and trees..roofs etc.

awwww, sorry for all this damage Mike... :(

We seem to get into the freezing rain closer to spring. For now we have another 15cm of snow predicted for Monday. Don't think I'm tall enough to get it on top of the mountains I've created!
