Aren't these are supposed to be good for sharpening razors?

I like these.
How would you sharpen a razor on this Wagger, isn't it soft?

Apparently the edge of a slice of these used to be used like the old leather strops for sharpening cutthroat razors. Piptoporus betulinus Birch Polypore also know as Razor Strop Fungus. Picture on http://www.photographersdirect.com/buyers/stockphoto.asp?imageid=2131742
Isn't Google a wonderful tool - you have a strange inkling of a bit of knowledge from years back and can immediately find the information to back it up.
