Albizia saman (broom tree)

It looks very much like our 'powder puff' or 'pink tassel' flower - calliandra surinamensis. I have a couple of these in my garden and the flowers are so similar but the leaves in this photo are different - the leaves on mine are much thinner. Anyone else have an idea?

Oh enough Aleyna - all this beauty on your doorstep I would spend all day bumping into people as I looked up all the time !

Maybe we could have some "meetings" every second year in one of our countries... and check all the beauty.

Well not related to plants but related to Brazil so hope its Ok - you probably too young to recall but my abiding memory 1970 Mexico Brazil win World Cup for third time you beat England but we dont mind as pure football with Pele , Jairzinho , Gerson ,Carlos Alberto - that save from Pele from Gordon Banks ....

The final against Italy 4 - 1 brilliant have it on video still watch it wonderful documentary accompanied by Carlos Santana playing Oye Como Va - doesnt get any better and when feeling a bit down this guaranteed to put a smile on my face !

Carnival for weeks on end just what we Brits could do with !

Well, soccer (which we call futebol, and anglicanism from "football") is a tradition in Brazil, as well as carnival... I guess we have more fun with carnival, however... lets talk about soccer...
There is no age excuse for a brazilian ... we MUST know it, so ....as far as i remember we shamelly lost the WCup to Argentina somewhere on 50s and again... shamelly to England in 1966... but well Beatles were the icones by 60s ... yeah yeah yeah....
right now i'm sad to reccon that there is no soccer anymore, but a huge money interest... as everything else in world... people change foods DNA for money interests... and we dont know where we going...
For this reason... I love to watch kids playing soccer on the parks, because.... they really play soccer :D!!!
it's a tradition... as samba dancing.... so... Forró is for brits... LOL

Well Aleyna - you expect to win every time WCup is played so we were lucky to win once !

Yes the older players didnt make a lot of money and they actually won something.Think we all like to think there is still an honour to play for your country that money cant buy... the team with Pele in played with such freedom and joy , we still like to see Brazil play that way.

Will go to watch the Forro' now - samba and carnival time !

What a beautiful flowering tree. Is this tree Albizia saman aka Samanea saman (old name) - Rain Tree? It look very similar the leaves, branches and flowers -- I know they are native to South America. These trees grow wild in Hawaii.

I'm not sure Delonix, but yes the shape of the tree, the flowers and the leaves are really similar, I'm pretty sure that your are right about it :) thank you!!!

I was pretty sure it was a Rain Tree - Albizia saman (Samanea saman). I've seen thousands of these trees. They are considered weed trees in Hawaii...I still absolutely love them. I know they grow here in San Diego, however, I don't see that many. I think they need a little more rain than we receive. We grow millions and I mean millions of Tipuana tipu - Tipu tree which is native to Brazil also. Tipu trees grow gigantic and extremely fast...I've noticed more than 10 feet / 3 meters of growth in just a few months in Summer. Large trees are very spectacular when they bloom with their apricot-colored flowers.

Fast growth is very common with trees in the Leguminosae (Fabaceae) family.

The Tipuana tipus is actually native form Bolivia, they are called Bolivian rosewood, or pride of Bolivia.
They are very pretty, we have them here also.
Do you grow them on parks and sidewalks? I would like to see pictures of a street covered by them.

We have a lot of these similar looking trees in Singapore. We call them the rain tree. (Samanea Saman). They are grown to provide sheltor in the sidewalks, road dividers etc..
