Hello, I had know idea either when i started... but bought a pond liner, dug a hole, it is about 18 ins deep.... and 3ft wide, not exactly in perfect shape.. after digging the hole i made sure there were no sharp stones etc....then put pond liner in and cut to shape..leaving an overlay on the top......then put the stones around the top of the liner to cover it up.............once filled i just left it to settle down............and have now over the last 2 years added different plants around the edges.............grasses are good......i have also got forgetme nots and various bulbs ... a lot of plants have seede themselves so the pond looks natural................ last year i bought 3 goldfish which seem to be doing well...........i would like some frogspawn but our local pond doesnt seem to have any........
