Hello Hywel, We used to live in the house before it was flooded july 2007. She had 4.5ft of water in the house and is now waiting for demolition and a new one built.

That's terrible !. It must be very distressing for you, and frightening too I should think. I hope the new house will be just as nice .

Lovely bizzie lizzies. my wife's fav's. Used to have a nice show of them every year in my previous front garden but they've never done as well in this current front garden as it's south facing and gets very hot. They seem to prefer a little shade. Do you raise them from seed Sophie??
Shame the house is to go. It's fantastically interesting!!

Hello Paul.
I started making my bizzie lizzie bell about 3 years ago each time in the same place. I use an old water butt which floated down the river one time. The first year was better than the one in this photo as it really did look like a bell, it was fantastic. When this one was planted out we had a holiday in July so it was down to our relief lock keeper to water it for me. sadley although he promised to look after it he didn't really water it enough, it still looked good though. Last year was a complete waste of time as I planted it out 3 times with fresh compost and plants (65 plants each time) and each time the river came up and washed it away.
It is amazing that I can have boaters sat in the garden facing the bizzies and I ask them "what do you think of my bizzie lizzies" most say they are fantastic but some look around the garden and ask "what bizzie lizzies". It does make me smile.
As you say they do not like it too hot but do like plenty of water, I do feed mine with mirical grow and of course river water.
I buy the plants as I do not have the time or space to grow from seed. Would be alot cheaper though.
Sophiejo.
