i am putting in a couple more raised beds this year and doubling a few of them up for so that root vegetables can stretch their legs.

Great photo, sorry only just seen it. If you are going to have raised beds, have plenty I say. You've got a good chance of a good rotation.

you bet Doc the more the merrier I say , Im just learning a bit about crop rotation although I have a slight problem as far as the raised beds are concerned , the issue being the carrot beds are doubled up to get the depth ,I am therefore restricted to the double height beds as far as rotation goes , so I reckon over the next couple of years I will end up doubling all the beds in height, never mind Doc when God made time he made plenty of it.

Hi Mac,
When we were growing on an area in the New Forest with 4 inches of soil we found Short Horn carrots were the best. Had no real success with parsnips.

I am trying to give them best conditions I can, although that doesnt guarantee anything as Im sure you are aware, sometimes it just fails ,there is probably always a reason but its not always obvious.
