The combination of melting snow and rain is causing the stream to burst its banks.

Oh dear! it's still raining hard here....is this streem far enough away from the house not to be a conern?

The stream is really a brook and it is about 9 yards away from the house at its nearest point. It is in a 'dip' and the sides are banked or with a wall, built we think by our predecessors. It goes under a very old stone bridge - you've seen that before in some of my photos - which we have to cross to get to the gate. That's where the stream could cause trouble - and has in the past - if it reaches the top of the arch, it will obviously flood the garden, then eventually the house.
Let's hope the water goes down today! It HAS stopped raining! :-)
