The 'illuminations' would be something to see - printed in colours and gold I see.

You managed to scan this well.
Would you like to please confirm the words on the left page and explain why the inscription is there ?
I can read most of it. Thanks.
That book is 126 years old !

I can't be exactly sure what it says as the first words are so faint but I think it says "Bertram given to him by his dear mother in 1893". Bertram Alan Wilson was my late grandfather and it was from him that I got the book many years ago. The book did scan well but the website wouldn't support the format so I photographed it in the end.

I'm a sentimental idiot Jacque. I can't dispose of anything given to me as a gift. Memories can mean such a lot.

Of course you would be sentimental about such a thing as this book...what else could you be about it..it is a family treasure for sure..!
