My wife received this orchid for her birthday from a friend. Neither my wife or our friend know the name of it. I'm hoping that Tasty can help.

I agree, but like you, I know nothing about them. We have a couple over the years and have managed to get them to floer for two or three years each and we keep ours on the kitchen window cill so luck is more the order than knowledge.

Sorry to come upon this so late, Toto. It's a Phalaenopsis orchid, maybe a mini depending on the size. One of the easiest orchids to grow. Water about once a week and don't let it stand in water. Orchids don't like their feet (roots) wet, they'll rot. Lot's a of indirect sunlight. Hope this was helpful and not too late :)

Thanks Tastey. Information too late for flowers but still very useful for plant. This one stood about 28 inches high.

Toto- Sounds like it was pretty tall. Was ut staked? When the flowers die off only cut the spike back to where it is dry and it may pop out some more flowers for you :) They are not the most exotic of orchids, but they are beautiful and easy to grow and very rewarding. I have one that Jeff ( my guy) bought for me on Valentine's day of 2008 and it's been in contant bloom :)

I'll take your advice, thanks Tastey. Yes it has two stakes.
