This is a large collection Chilean Wine Palms in Mission Bay Park in San Diego, CA. It is one of the largest collections of this palm in the state. Photo taken Feb. 22, 2009. (Yesterday for me)

Panther:
These palms are babies. lol They have the largest trunk diameter (more than 6 feet/ 2 meters) of any palm in the World and grow to be at least 80 feet /25 meters tall. They are also very slow growing. There are many large mature trees in the San Francisco Bay Area...some are documented to be more than 130 year old. They are extremely long-lived palms...no one really knows how long...from what I've read.
