Just look at the wonderful colour in the lake. This is no trick the water was that colour.

Hi Janey in the paperwork on the gardens it says.... The lake was created by damming the Hilcot brook in 1922. The remarkable blue colouring is believed to be due to the presence of very fine (Colloidal) clay particals suspended in the water, perhaps enhanced by the dissolved lime in the water.
Hmm I am still none the wiser but the water was really stunning.
