Went through that last year Gee - when female arrived and the drakes queued up , perhaps the couple will return to you next year having sorted things out.

Yes Aster they visited regularly for about six weeks then she nested under an ancient tree covered in thick ivy at the bottom of the garden. She proudly led 12 ducklings down the garden to the pond at the beginning of May.Had pics but lost them...will take more if she does the same this year ! Fingers crossed !

I thought it was unusual for you not to have pics of the ducklings, shame they got lost.Better luck this year, they seem happy to be there again anyway.

They are so tame, how lovely. Better put duck food on the list now Jane! So pleased they have returned, hope mine do too. I'm always intrigued by the mallards beautiful markings, both male and female.

Looks like he's trying to strut his stuff and she's acting demure and pretending not to notice...lol. You are so lucky to witness these little performances right in your own back yard !

Such a shame when ducklings arrive as only use pond like a nursery - they all waddle off to the river after a few days without a bye or leave , still nice to do your bit .

Still lucky to have many hours of great entertainment until nature calls them back to the wild.
