Maybe in the coolest time of the year...I know it doesn't get very cool in Fiji...I'm not sure. They can only be grown here in the coolest part of the year...it's amazing they look so well, considering our very hot dry January.
They generally fry in hot dry weather...I've tried to growing them in the past with little success...mine didn't look this good.

I looked up some of Suva's average temperatures for the coolest month of the year...it is very similar to Honolulu, Hawaii. I don't think Primrose would grow very well in Fiji...the average minimum temperature is too high.

Thanks very much Delonix, so I shouldn't bother trying planting them after all, but aren't they lovely!

I have a suggestion - I used to grow with very good success...Cape primrose - Streptocarpus hybrids. They look like primrose, however, are from the tropics. They are related to African Violets.
There's many hybrids available here...I'm not sure about in Fiji.
Let me know if you find this plant available there...I would be very interested.

Cape primrose,I have to remember this and certainly will have a look around in the weekend.
It could be possible that we do have them, as I have seen some unusual attractive looking African Violets where I last went to and it could possibly be what you're meaning, but I'm just guessing:-)
Anyway thanks again Delonix, yes I will let you know if I do find the plant here.

The variety of colours in the Primroses are lovely. I wonder if they can survive here in the Tropics by any chance?
