This was another Internet purchase, bought and delivered to the front drive for £30.00. We had to clearer out the garage to bring it through to the back garden, too wide to get through the gate.
(It is an international bolt container and holds 1066 litres) I was surprised to see how quickly it filled up we have rigged an overflow system witch runs off down a long pipe down the fence and along the bottom border. The pipe has small holes drilled into it and acts as a drip feeder to the bottom border witch gets sucked dry by the conifers in the garden behind us. It works really well.

water butts it is Cat~rainwater is better than tap water for most plants so lots of us have them!d Don't work too hard Cat~ nearly 5 pm here right now but still light!

I really have to get some of these set up here.....we don't get much in the way of rain water in the summer but I would be nice to trap some of the snow melt.
Good luck with your sale Cj.

~we get so much rain it could be filled twice over Gilli~thinking of getting another one with a linking kit.

Thanks all for the good wishes on my sale..! What a sweet lot you are..It went well and I will have one this afternoon as well..but it will be a short day today...I do love the idea of these water butts...we are a bit dry here actually too..only get 19 to 21 inches of water a year..we are in the rainshadow of the olympic mountains..but my fish pond/half whiskey barrel is filled by rain water until summer and then needs help..I used to live by Mt St. Helens( the volcano in Washington State) and it rained like crazy there...weeks on end of it. Water butts would be perfect there!..

I have a gutter system running round the greenhouse roof which runs into the barrel which has a tap~last year it ran dry which is why I was going to have a second one.
~it is amazing the amount of water from any roof~if you can site it below your down pipe with an overflow to go into the drain for any excess you get free water for your fish plants etc...

hmmmm this is a great idea..I have a 2 good sized wooden barrels around here...will have to see what can be done with them...good idea's...would be a good way to take care of fish ponds etc..while I am not here.

mine is plastic CJ and had it years ~water conservation is big news with the possibility of drier summers~ particularly in the southeast and tap water is not the right thing for a lot of my plants!

Tap water here has so much chlorine it it, I cannot believe it is good for anything!
