The most common Ice plant along the freeways in Calfornia

You can't go on any freeway in California (lower-elevations) without seeing this ice plant. There's several colors available.

I remember this stuff. When we lived in Orange county this stuff was everywhere. Lots of colors and very pretty.

Yes, Wohlibuli it is everywhere. They are a good grounds cover for the sides of the freeways. As a landscape ground-cover they tend to get a lot of diseases or die-back and many bugs and rodent love to live in them. They are so widely used because they are drought tolerant and grow very quickly.

Yes, they do look a lot like a sea anemone...and they act like one also.
The flowers close up at night and open during the day.
