Now that reminds me - I must get the seeds this year.

I've got some of these already sprounting inside. I know poppies are fussy about being transplanted but I have lots of seeds for direct sowing too.
Yours looks perfect.

In this cool weather they've been lasting for some time Toto. I noticed that a cut one in water lasted for over a week. I wasn't aware that they made nice cut flowers :)
I saw you little sprouts... how exciting Newfie :) I didn't grow these from seed. I cheated and bought them from the store. They got pretty droopy after transplanting them, but eventually snapped back.
Can't wait to see your seeds sprouting Hywel. How long did it take yours Newfie?

Only took 4-5 days, I think to get a few started, but within days all were up! But they are very delicate, I crooked a few to the side trying to get a picture. haha.

Following your excellent pic and comments about Iceland Poppies and Newfie's concern about not planting them straight into her garden, went out this morning and bought some seed of "Poppy - Iceland Mixed". The picture on the packet shows yellow, red and pink poppies and the instructions on the back of the packet recommend that the seeds are sown in good seed compost in a tray, covered with a polythene bag and kept at a temperature of between 18 & 20 degrees centigrade, then pricked out into pots before finally planting them in the ground. It also says that, alternatively they can be sown outside in late summer. Judging by this Newfie's plants should do just great. I certainly hope so.

Toto- I'm happy to hear that my photo inspired you to go out and get some seeds. Thanks for the instructions on sowing :) Good luck to you, can't wait to see the photo :)
Newfie does it say how long till they flower from seeds?

The packet I have says that they are a hardy biennial so they should grow this year and flower next. I think I shall get some more seed next year to get a succession and then, hopefully harvest my own from then on.

I love these poppies. Shame the flowers last such a short time.
