This was my garden last year and was wondering what to do differently this year - the area in the centre is a sunken seating area; one neighbour thought it was a pond and the other thought it was going to be my last resting place!!(table yet to be made) but the area on the right hand side is a bit of a mess - it's a mixture of a passion flower (my favourite); a virginia creeper (love this in autumn) and a clematis. All three are rapid growers having only been planted last March.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to break up this cluster of plants?

Welcome to GoY.
Pretty garden :o)
Are there steps down into the sunken seating area, or do you descend by rope ladders ? Lol.

Terra,

the sunken area is only 2 feet deep so you just step down into it. No need for a ladder at all! ; )

How about various lilies? They like their roots shaded and heads in the sun

Your sunken seating area looks like a great spot for a pond, I thought that' what it was :)
