This is my tree begonia after the athletic gorging guinea pig got loose.

This is the poor thing now. How do I know it was the guinea pig? I hear you ask. Because I saw it up there nibbling happily away when it was frightened by my cry of "Nooooooo!" (a few other choice words followed) and in it's hurry to get down, knocked the pot and plant over sending it crashing to the ground. The pot was cracked, potting mixture everywhere, begonia in a million pieces and guinea pig - looking well pleased with himself as he scarpered away with a full tum!!

Oh dear! On a lighter note, the way you described it was really funny..he's quite cute though..:p Thot he looked like a stuff toy from the thumbnail....and your begonia plant is definitely edible and tasty from the looks of it.

TT this is a very hardy plant I find and it will come back - it's just that it was so close to flowering and now I'll have to wait for a bit longer.

That guinea pig sounds a good competitor for TT's Wellies Olympics by it's extraordinary athletic acts Bernieh. I didn't know that they could climb either.

Hi Panther - the little one didn't climb the stump. My hubbie had left a long plank (for putting up between trestles) resting on the stump and it must have walked up this to get to the top - obviously begonia leaves are too hard to resist no matter how high you must go.

LOL....ok that explains it, I was trying hard to imagine how it was scurrying up the begonia stem and getting onto the leaves. I have to dong my head for that .....
I hope you replant that broken stem again, for sure it will grow ;-)

Sorry about that Panther - hard to imagine a fat guinea pig scaling an old tree stump digging in his tiny little claws .... nah! Yes the begonia was re-planted, trimmed off and it will recover.
