I bought this small shrub last year from ebay, it was listed as Magnolia 'star' or M. stellata, which according to the pictures and discription is white. well as you can imagine, was a bit suprized to see a pink buds, and thought that M.stellata only come in white, but on further inspection and research, i have found out that there is a variety called 'Royal Star' which has pink buds yet white flowers, and it seems this is what i have, - bonus! - think this is quite a rare vareity.

That's very pretty. I had a M. stellata back in Kent, and tried one here - but it died. They are lovely - I didn't know there was a pink one!!!

Yes i am very pleased, i did'nt know they come in pink either, but i looked it up and apparently there is a varety of stellata, that has pink buds but when they open they are white, i think it could be this one, because it is more or less white inside the flower, though you can't really see from this pic.

How lovely, and what a nice surprise to get an even better plant than you expected. The first bloom of thousands...
