Phone shot. I love the color of the sky in spring as the sun comes back. The Evening Star, Venus is shining over the city. This is the color behind my late evening shots. :-)

Great shot of that colourful sky and the evening star.

A spring sky. I'm glad you like. Only like this once a year, long evenings and snow.

Great shot

That's wonderful. I always like to see Venus. I like the lights of the town in the distance too.

:-) We get Venus great with the new crescent moon and alone spring and fall, like this. I love it in an evening sky. No moon or stars all summer.

Well you wouldn't see them in the light, but I think they'd keep you company all winter :o) I see Venus and a crescent moon here sometimes. and sometimes I can see it in the morning just before the sun rises.

My hubby is a (serious) amateur astronomer. He could never live where he couldn't see the stars in the warmest part of the year... You don't know misery until you've sat, numb and bored, on the top of a windy hill waiting to catch a glimpse of something only he can see!!!

Lori....lol. I've been on similar, (not for me) adventures.
Hywel, the crescent and venus I love, but in winter, the sky is black most of the time. Not quite as beautiful as the evening or morning view. They are stunningly bright, and to an astronomer, unusual, the north star is just to the north of a position directly above. Most of the astrological constellations are hidden behind the mountains except to the south.

You have seriously tall mountains up there, GT! Keep talking GT.with your factual input,..I'll have a case put together to place before my husband as to why we really should see the Yukon and Alaska before we kick off!! lol... I had google earth on my compu. to see the sky from various places on earth...but the prgm. seemed to cause things to slow down a lot...had to ditch it.. may just load it up again to take a look at Fairbanks skies! And Whitehorse too~

Some mountains are tall. :-) The constellation I mentioned are so low to the horizon even hills can block them out. It a bit like looking at the sky in the southern hemisphere, familiar but not.
