Ruellia blooms in one portion of my garden.

Ruellia grows best in full sun, but also can survive in partial shade.

Panther just pulled a lot of these out of my front garden beds and greenhouse beds this year - they're growing like weeds and popping up everywhere! They do have a lovely flower though.

Yes you right Bernieh, I tend to pull out a lot as well to keep them controlled.

Panther, the ones i see covering the ground are 1 street from where i live, every time i walk past, i see them hovering near the ground, not so high. They come in white and pink as well.

Love it! I have this same species - a pink variety. I planted it in the ground in fall and it's growing fairly large now...I'm waiting for it to bloom again so I can post some photos. I hope it'll bloom soon.

Panther:

It had two little pink blossoms on the plant last fall at only 4 inches/10 cm tall. Now that it's in the ground it should bloom soon and hopefully have more blooms.

These are lovely. I'm sure they are all over. I've got one in my garden. I had to pot it up, it was sprouting everywhere in the terrarium I had it in. Its a little different, ruellia makoyana. Heres a link if you like.

Thanks Gt just took a look at the link, yours have veiny leaves as compared to mine and interesting how it flowers through your winter, how lovely. My plants are tall and are becoming more of a pest as little plants are just springing up in every space.Today I had to cut a few back to tidy up my garden a bit:-(

I had to learn enjoying cutting it back. In a pot it gets tall but quites blooming if I don't cut it back every six months. What a reseeder! But nice bloomer. :-)
