Bought two of these from my local Garden Centre the other week as a bulb and once potted up this is the result...

Tasteyq,I am not sure but I think they are a type of Orchid.There is another plant called a Bletila? which looks identical to the Pleione and that is supposed to live outside,but I brought one many years ago but it popped it's clogs and I haven't seen them for sale since.I think that one is more of a specialist plant

I had this one, too. It lives in the swamps of formosa and is supposed to stand the winter. Mine didnĀ“t. It was too cold, maybe. It is an orchid.

Thanks everyone,very interesting Nelke,my flowers have just going over and I am going to have a read up on after care so hopefully thye will grow again next year.I am not going to put them outside,they can stay on the bottom shelves of my greenhouse where hopefully they can tick over through the summer....
