I've got an aloe vera w a flower spike right now Amy :) It's not super impressive, so you're not missing out on much, lol ;~) I've been waiting for it to open forever...
Thanks TT :)
I think that it will be quite some time before it opens Sandra.

Tastey, I've never had a flower on my aloe. I must be doing something wrong ....

Autum- I think that aloes like dry arid regions, maybe your climate doesn't meet it's needs.

Thanks Tasteyg, now that you mention, I do recall my previous Aloe drowned and died after a period of consecutive heavy rain..... gotta crack my head and think of how to keep the aloe I have dry from the rain ...

Autum_ Perhaps you could put it in a covered area or make a cover for it :) Good luck :)

TT i have an echivera that started flowering last september and is only now opening. so we might be in for a long wait with your aloe. i have an aloe called arisata and i has great flowers every year, even better than that it survived the frosts...
Autum mine are planted in 60% coarse sand 20%grit and 20% soil this help to keep their roots drier.

Sandra- I noticed the flower spike on March 7th...so it been about 3 weeks since then and it has grown considerably taller. I will keep you posted.
