~their funding for the Millenium seed bank at Wakehurst place is up for renewal this year and I can't see Gordon throwing money at it although it is such a worthwhile cause~imagine letting a cure for cancer or malaria etc disappear because we didn't keep the seeds that could provide a cure~so go and keep up the numbers and their revenue if you can~you will enjoy it and you will be helping.
~one of my blogs will give you the backgound.

I didn't know that Arlene. I have no doubt I will enjoy it. Your comments about throwing away all the good research is so true but you only have to look at the many inventions of the past that have gone to Amerca, Japan etc. to realise that our governments have always been extremely short sited.

~thanks Raquel
~when you think it is Kew's 250 th Anniversary this year and it was the Victorians who built these structures they did really well~there is an upstairs walkway really high in the roof in the Palm house from where you can look down at all the plants~lovely spiral wrought iron staircase to get up there.
Next time I will get up there for some photos but this time because hubby was in a wheelchair we didn't do the high bits!

Yes, so true! Amazing how they worked to keep alive what really doesn't belong to a northern climate...When I heard the name "Kew" it seemed familiar I think I must have read it in a poem but for the life of me I can't remember which... =)

Haven't been to Kew for many years. Your pics are tempting me to make the effort.
