I think the trick is to keep it fairly dry during the dormant season. I planted it under the lee of a large wisteria two years ago so this might be the right place for it. I put in three bulbs and they have all survived (two in flower, the other in bud)

Andrew, this is SCOTLAND! We don't do dry dormant seasons hence one of my reasons for growing special bulbs in pots. lol

I. bucharica is a favourit of mine. Although an allegedly easy juno I cannot grow it outside. I have two big pots in the greenhouse that flower superbly but not for a few weeks yet.
