Thanks Jeanette. The name sure is a great match for the shape of the flower pod. The little flowers themselves are just the sweetest things and so often overlooked.

never seen them before, only came across this foto cos I was looking up our (uk!) common or garden tradescantia..mine looks tiny bit different to this one...

This variety is a very common plant in gardens here. They're very drought hardy and sun hardy. You will very often see them used is roadside plantings done by our Council.

hi bernie - just put a foto on my page of my tradescantia - it is a bit different to yours!! lucky your council has good taste! lol!! (all we get here is canna lilies and petunia - or lobelia if we're really lucky!!)
t 'x andersoniana' "charlotte" is the plant I have..not much similarity to yours, but pretty flowers anyway...
