Yes Donnah it it - there's a couple of these in my son's garden and they were all flowering when I was visiting. I don't have them in this garden - have had them in other gardens - and now I'm thinking I will have to get at least one.

I have one growing in a pot which I have brought on from a baby, they look so beautiful in flower and take a lot of neglect !!

~Bernieh~I have got a large strelitzia in my greenhouse which is about to come into flower and have just bought one online which is a lovely plant ,was reduced in price! but probably not yet flowering size.
I have protea and other plants which feeding nutrients to would be anathema and am not sure that this is in the same category, but think not?.Can I feed it and how often and with what~half strength tomato feed?
Would appreciate advice!

Arlene when I had strelitzia in the ground I would use a fertiliser with a good nitrogen base and, where possible, trace elements. I have also had one in a pot and for that I used a slow release fertiliser. For plants such as protea you're right - they don't like fertiliser, definitely not ones that contain phosphorus. In nature most proteas grow in soils that are low in nutrients, so they can be harmed by fertilisers which contain normal levels of phosphorus.
