Has the garlic taken over the bluebells then Arlene ? In the woods behind us,the wild garlic dominates....and the smell can be quite overpowering !

~there are now garlic plants everywhere where there weren't any before but I am quite pleased at how much ground is given over to bluebells this year ~I am hoping to get some accurate photos later.
I would love to go in with shears when the garlic flower heads form before they seed...

Guess I'm not familiar with wild garlic or the rules concerning it's control. Is it protected because it is a natural plant? Here we have what the county calls noxious weeds which are weeds that are not indigenous to the area. We are required by law to control them on our properties or we are fined. Of course the county ignores those rules on county land. :-)

~I don't think it is a protected plant and if it is growing in your garden you can treat it as a weed~ but the wood belongs to a local wildlife trust who haven't done any maintenance on the land for years~maybe a strong letter telling them it is going to ruin may provoke some sort of response. It is a nasty invasive plant which is hard to eradicate.

Strong letters to the county don't make a lot of difference here. Along with the weed rules,we also have rules about how many inoperable cars a landowner can have on his agricultural property here. I've written and sent photos of the mess my neighbors have next door and have not even gotten a reply. I'm planting and growing trees as fast as I can to block the view. LOL
