How's your Rheum palmatum doing this year?

The various colors add such wonderful splashes throughout the garden...looks very nice

Dawnsaunt, I moved my Rheum palmatum at the end of last year to a lower part of my garden, and so far he has 3 leaves and growing well. The leaves are not to big just yet but hopefully where it is positioned this year it should be happier. I will post pics once he is bigger.

Thanks T&T, I would love to see pics in the coming weeks, thank you. I've had one for years on the edge of my wildlife pond and it has always had a small leaf or two and then died back. It was on clay so suspected it was not free draining enough. Like you, moved it last year to my veg plot, so as to rescue it and this year it sounds like yours, doing well has 3 leaves but I dont know where to move it to ..... as they are classed as pool side plants I'm not sure, any suggestions, Thanks Dawn

I've put mine in a slightly drier place this year with dappled shade if that helps.

The soil is clay. But I did dig some out and fill it with my own compost from the heap.

Like mine then T&T! Most of my garden is clay but mine is now in quite nice compost - recycled from my greenhouse, gets morning sun but late pm shade. I'm sure the rheum has grown this last couple of days.
