Yes, it does flower after a year or so - this photo is showing it's buds - the flowers are little white fluffy things and I'll include a photo of the flowers when I can find where I put those pictures.
All of mine have been outdoors for several years, and seem to be OK planted straight in the ground. My garden is small, sheltered and in the middle of town in South London, but I think Myrtle is supposed to be hardy in most of the UK - you could check what the RHS website says for more detailed information for where ever you are based.
I now have 4 plants from one tiny original, as well as having given away a couple. They got lots of scale insect indoors, but being outdoors seems to keep that under control!

Looks very healthy Marion. I've never had Myrtle. Does it have flowers? Is it hardy?
