Thanks for your comment, Terra. Avis, you may be thinking of 'Amanogawa', the flagpole cherry, which is very upright, 'Kanzan' is large and vase shaped when younger.

This one is my favourite cherry - has been on my wish list for a while now. I just love the double ruffled blooms!

I don't like it at all, Gram, this is one a green area in the town. But each to their own, as they say.
