Thanks Greenthumb it has been a lot of hard work and the work my wife has put in has I believe brought us even closer together even after being together for over 40 years.

Thanks Spritzhenry it is going to be a while before we have finished. We are doing it in stages this is the first stage, new wall, new patio, little veg plot for me, new PVC garage door and new expensive rotary cloths line for Chris at a cost of £176. Garage window will have to wait untill next year along with new garage roof.
Later this year as soon as top patio slabs are layed we will start on the bottom patio which is about 40m2. Next week the wood should be here for our bench seat, it is a piece of mahogany 651/2" long 19" wide and 2" thick with 2 x 6" wide strips for back rests, cost £120.
Next year I will get the wall pebble dashed and the garage if I can aford to do the two. Then my big challenge to do some container gardening that will make the garden feel like a garden. I must thank all the members who have submited some marvelous photo's for some great idears they have given me.
I will post pictures in the near future of our progress.

Please excuse a criticism - are you intending to do anything with that breeze-block wall? It isn't the most attractive feature! Even a trellis with something growing on it would help... :-)

Yes next year I will have it pebble dashed; we will then be looking to hang planters and baskets on it with flowers and strawberrys growing in them, hopefully this will help my veg area by attracting more bees to the area. Any criticism is welcome I don't always see every thing I welcome your comments and any suggestions. If you have any thoughts on what I should grow in the planters etc please let me know. I know very little about gardening and am not the most artistic person in the world.

Errr...I understand that if a wall is pebble dashed, you can't drill holes in it to mount brackets for baskets. Maybe someone else will know the answer to that?

I am sure we can help with suggestions for plant for baskets etc... you only have to click on 'ideas' at the bottom of the page to see lots!

Did Chas help digging the foundations? I hope he didn't bury his bone under the brickwork!!

He kept digging the stone dust up after we spread it, as for the bone the wife made a stew with it so he went hungry...lol

Poor old Chas, it certainly is a dog's life!!

Poor old Chas latest is it cost us £160 today at the vets he was sick and it turned out he had a belly full of stones from the stone dust.

aww poor chas! hope he is feeling better now!

He is back to his old self thanks to the vet, it realy worried Chris and me he vomited and brought up a 2" piece of metal and we were worried he may have damaged himself internally.

Oh dear. Sounds a bit like Paddy, he's a bit of a devil for picking everything up and eating it!

We would be lost without them and I don't want him to change it is what makes hin who he is.
