A garden flower photo

Normally, I will smash these guys when I find them...but this one was not afraid. He kept his cute little head out the whole time. We had a photo shoot, he tried on the latest spring colors :) I took him and the rest of his cousins to school in 'bug' box for the kids to look at. They love them :) Just a simple way to teach kids to respect and love nature :)

Oh no Newfie...that's my little secret ;~) My goal is to help the children gain a sense of respect and love of nature. They can learn about the evils of the snail later. Jeff, my partner set up a compost bin at school for the children. We have worms in there for the children. They love them. I brought in some new worms to add to the pile and as I dumped them in, one of the boys said, "Oh, they're so beautiful!" Just about melted my heart, it was so cute! I did some research on the worm and taught the children a few theings about them and we talk about composting. Did you know that worms don't have eyes or lungs. They are sensitive to light and if there skin dries out they will die, becasue that's how they breathe...through their skin. We talk about what's okay for a worm to eat and what's not, etc. A while back I noticed that some of the children really liked the worms, so that's when I decided that we needed a compost bin for the worms :)
