Looks to be a bit soon! I think I would have kept it in a smaller pot for a few more weeks. You really don't need to pot them on till you see the roots starting to pop out of the bottom of the pot. If you pot them up into bigger sizes too soon the soil gets sour & the plant will not grow as well as it might if planted into a bigger pot when it's really ready.

How high are you intending to grow it?

It looks as if its a big pot its the angle I have taken it at.

I know Balcony you only potonnext size of pot as roots start to show through.

Final pots will be 5" pots as I am only doing mini and quarter standard fuchsias .

As if the they are to tall they can catch the wind.

Yesterday I was in Tesco's & I saw some standard Fuchsias, I don't know if they were 1/4 or 1/2 standards, they were chock-a-block with flowers by the 100! They also had a high price tag - £12! At least it seems expensive to me but I would have loved to have been able to buy one!

Well a wee bit dearer I got them in Morrisons for £7.99 full of flowers although not a true standard by BFS rules but for the garden and not showing perfect .

As I have been s busy mine not ready yet.

But I stripped all th ebottome leaves then had anice head for standard.

Dobbies were £19.99 so if you are happy with £12.99 I would go for it plus you have loads of cutting material on it and club points.:)

One of the things that caught my attention was the fact that all the leaves were still on the stem! Look most strange! They were all in plastic bags & there was only one variety - but they looked lovely!

Balcony you could strip the leaves on the stem as I have done then you have a ready made head above on fuchsai standard bush.

They had all gone by the time I arrived last Saturday - more people than I thought must have thought they weren't too expensive at £12!

Tesco's has brought in a lot of plants during the last couple of weeks. I bought another tray of Busy Lizzies as some of the plugs I put in the pouches have died & I need replacements. Today I went there as my wife works there, & I noticed they had Busy Lizzies in individual pots with plastic up the sides of the pots, on looking at them closer they appear to be the older kind of Busy Lizzie, the type I was commenting on a few weeks ago & wrote a blog on. Compared to the modern low growing bushy ones we now grow they didn't look at all pretty! All lanky stems with a few flowers on the tips of the stems! There were several colours though I don't remember seeing the gorgeous deep pink of the original B.Sultani!
