We've had frost warnings for the last two weeks, Gt!! I kept tearing out to cover up my lovelies with plastic sheeting ...but it's gone on so long I've given up...just shrug and say C'est la vie! I've joined the legions who are scratching our heads about the wonky weather! This little bit of rockery has shown me first hand how effective rocks are at holding warmth and how that warmth benefits the plants growing in the niches! The plants are well ahead of others of the same variety that are planted in a regular flower bed!

Thats interesting! Yet another reason to make sure I go collecting rocks. Newfienurse got me all excited about picking up rocks when I go driving this summer. I can warm up my beds!

Yep...like in the old days...put the rocks in the fire and when it's time for bed...put one at your feet!!!... (now, how old am I?) LOL... Did you notice that the mullein are showing rather well? they are huge already...and the flower spikes will go up sometime in June...

I did notice. They were my reasoning that you've had good weather. But now I learn the rocks are helping them along.
