Oh, yes - how true, Gee! I am always taking black bin liners full of them up to the Horticultural College - I never get rid of them all, though - they breed like rabbits, I think.

How is it that you have so many nice white square ones Eileen , what did you have in those when you bought them ?

I think the square ones are orchid pots - we use some very simular to these in the shop that i work, and they are about £5 each too. you are very well orgainsed Eileen, i have pot's every where at the moment, not as nice as these though i bet you can come up with some lovely arrangement with them.

oh no! why? ....... i have a bathroom full of Phalanopis orchids as they are unsalable once they finish flowering, but the do re-flower for me every year. they are stunning and i find them really easy..... i would have thought with your growing tallents Eileen you would have them decorating every room :-) or did you just not get to them in time lol

lol i managed to get two of them Angie. one is still flowering .
ill need to look it up how to look after them . seen somewhere on here that when they are finished flowering to cut the stem back.

yes that's right Eileen, just above one of the knodes, i usually cut right down to near the base (2nd knode) but my friend always cuts down just below where the flowers have finished because somtimes you get a second flush of flowers if you cut higher up the stem - personally i think this takes too much energy out of the plant and then you have to wait ages for it to flower again, but it's personal choice really. i like more frequent flowers, she likes long flowering period. - mine flower on average once a year and are in flower for around 4 months at a time, which i think is pretty good going really. They are fairly easy, the worst thing you can do is overwater it. they like steam but also a bit of ventilation, if you have any problems with mould or condensation in your bathroom you will struggle with these. not too much direct light and they hate water sitting in the base of the plant. they quite like a misting little and often and aim for the air roots as appose to the leaves and flowers. in the wild they hang from trees believe it or not, so they need little soil and they like to be pot bound, this will incorage the air roots that will take mosture out of the air which is far better than watering the base of the plant, which is why a bathroom is ideal for them. i water mine about once every 3-4 weeks unless really hot in which case a little more, rain water is best - but to be honest i rarely remeber to take some in time to do them, as i find with both me and Brooke having a bath each a day there is always plenty of steam for them to take mosture from. i do feed them every so often, usually as they start budding up to flower. they don't like cold drafts or central heating, so they are a bit fussy, but easy if you hit it right. best of luck with them :-)
