Very beautiful lush garden! I love it...and I bet you don't have to water much either. I'm envious! : > )

Thank you Gt and D1!! I have two very large maples in my yard...one in the front and one in the back...and they are like sponges...all moisture goes right to them...hence I plant ground covers under them...the green and white aegopodium tries to smother the vinca...but I like the vinca best...so I pull out some of the aego..it doesn't mind..I also planted Japanese Spurge....I planted the Lotv corms two years ago...and forgot I had...lol.I love spring surprises! But to answer your question...I water from my pond...I take buckets full and douse my ferns and hostas with five gallons a shot! I circulate my pond water but do not filter it...hence I do exchanges. the plants love the rich water and the fish like the fresh water...Win Win. Sorry bout your water woes... Is there a desalenation plant in SanDiego?

Lori:
It sounds like there's a lot of competition between plants there.
There's a desalenation plant in Carlsbad in Northern San Diego County which is coming on line soon...however, it not large enough to supply all of San Diego County's water problems. It will help a little though.

I wonder how long it will be before we have alternate sewage systems...whereby we treat and reuse the "gray" water...(water used for showers, baths, clothes washing, etc...)and use alternate methods of dealing with sewage waste by using composting toilets, etc. Think of all the jobs that could be created in the retrofit of our domestic systems...A sewage sub-system would work...but it has yet to be designed and debugged...etc. recession/depression? Let's hope the r/d is a catalyst ...new industries are waiting to be founded. lol...

Lori:
I've been wondering about this for a long time. Alternative ways of recycling water and treating water are available...however, so many political issues seem to prevail, and prevent this from happening.
It would be a great way -- I agree to create some new industries...to at least to help this deeply depressed economy. Let's hope for the best!

Nice shot. I like it nestled in there with the variegation.
