Barrel cactus is very hardy, however, they don't like wet and cold weather.

My one got damp, and it rotted.... we live and learn hey. That's what gardening is all about.

Live and learn...that's very true.
In San Diego County we have a few native barrel cacti species...they grow at the higher elevations in the desert.

well it looked great while it lasted.....i am replanting my lost succulents...i just love them in the garden.

I do have some Agarves, and a couple of cacti, as well as a few other succulents. They are small, but I'm goning to give it another go. The thing with gardening, is never give up, just keep on trying. I might post my succulents.

This was last year, sadly, I lost the barrel cactus last winter. Thinking of re-doing this area into something different.........
