Milkweed-host to Monarchs

Yes by appointment to her majesty...the thing I like best about milkweed is the wonderful scent...It grows in the vacant lot beside us and in late spring, the owner sends in someone with a mower to cut down the hay...it is amazing to me the good timing of that, because the milkweed are young enough that they just bend with the mower and strong enough that their stems aren't severed. The cut hay is left on the lot and the milkweed comes up through it...Last season was the best so far for monarch sightings at home...This plant was growing on the verge of the swamp in my next pic...close to the mystery vine site 500 klicks from home! lol.
