Stripy tulip!

Arrrhhhh - I've found some stripy tulips in my garden just like the ones Majeek has!!!

yep Sid that looks the same, you can see from the margin on the edge of the leaf that this type of tulip does have some variation in leaf colour, but according to my info varigated and stripy leaf varieties are solid blocks of colour or stripes- not broken lines or bloches like the darker coloured stripes on the main part of the leaf! - you can clearly see that the margin is a solid line, so proberly just the variety but the brown/burgandy stripes are the same as what i have. i don't think that this is the same variety as mine because i had no other colour variation on the leaf - no margin - which i am affraid would kinda point towards it being a virus. what about the flower bud does it look translucent and distorted? do you remeber where you bought them? - if it was Thompson & Morgan would explain a lot. if i were you Sid i would play safe and put them in a pot away from anything else also be sure to wash any tools gloves ect when touching them because this is one of the ways that it passes on, and see what happens! because if this is as i supesct the virus i have read about it can infect any number of other plants and it's a killer! keep me posted on the progress, thanks Angie.
